Η Μίνα Γκουβάτσου - Καρέκου γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε μαθηματικά στο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης και είναι καθηγήτρια μέσης εκπαίδευσης. Είναι παντρεμένη και μητέρα δύο παιδιών. Κατοικεί στην Αθήνα.
